Banff Minor Hockey Programs
Banff Minor Hockey offers three programs for kids age 5 through 14. Intro to Hockey (ages 5-8) allow players to learn basic skills while rotating through positions. Minor Hockey (ages 9-14) refines position, skills, and team play in a competitive environment. Pond offers practice and shinny without weekend commitments for kids ages 9-13.

U7 & POND will remain open until the Fall
Objectives & Expected Level Of Play By Division
Intro to Hockey: Under-7 (U7)
Introducing basic skating and hockey skills in a safe and fun environment.
- Ages 5 & 6 (as of Dec 31)
- Half-ice play
- October through March
- Practice twice a week
- Home and away tournaments
- No weekend games
- Child should be able to stand and move on their own on skates
Intro to Hockey: Under-9 (U9)
Developing skating skills and building confidence through Hockey Canada's Intro to Hockey program.
- Ages 7 & 8 (as of Dec 31)
- Half-ice play, no scorekeeping
- Rotate through all positions
- September through March
- Practice twice a week
- Home and away exhibition games
- Home and away tournaments
Under-11 (U11)
Skills development that allows for players to experience various postions while accommodating those who have already decided their position.
- Ages 9 & 10 (as of Dec 31)
- Full ice, scorekeeping, offsides
- September through March
- Practice twice a week
- Home and away league games
- Home and away tournaments
- Playoffs
- Play within the Rockies House League
Under-13 (U13)
Goals are fun, refining of individual tactics and introduction to team play.

Under-15 (U15)
Goals are fun, refining team play and introduction to team strategy.

Recreation (Pond)
A flexible environment that develops skills and abilities while reducing costs and travel.
- Ages 9-13* (ages accepted will depend upon registration numbers. If certain ages cannot be accommodated, full refunds will be issued)
